Puppy Punt Out of Retirement

Ok so I've decided to bring the Puppy Punt out of retirement. I found it hard to keep up with this on a regular basis but I've got some good ideas rollin' through my head so I wanted to get this going again. With baseball kicking off soon I'm going to try and keep a regular account of whats going on in my main fantasy baseball league (Pi Lambda Phi). But for the opener here I'm going to delve into where the name Puppy Punt came from, because I'm not sure that everyone knows.

For obviously reasons I will leave real names out of this story and refer to the 3 parties involved as Michael Scott, Jim Halpert, and Dwight Schrute. So this story takes place a couple years ago at the end of the summer when my fraternity was admidst elections for positions in the upcoming semester. For one particular position it was Dwight Schrute vs Jim Halpert. Now Jim Halpert had had the position for the past 4 semesters and had done an excellent job, but more importantly he was still excited and willing to continue holding the position. But many argued that we should get someone new in there and that Dwight deserved a shot at it. My response to this argument, and I quote, was

"That's ridiculous, Dwight is one of the dumbest people I've ever met". At which time Michael chimed in with

"Harvey why dont you just go kick some puppies or something". And thus the name was born. While my comment might have been over the top, I was later vindicated as Dwight left school a year later because he was failing out (take that Michael). However, the name Puppy Punt stuck, and thus was born my blog name and the nickname of the new members I initiated as pledge master of my fraternity.

Anyway thats the story. But to close I'll throw out a few random notes:

1) I'm going golfing tomorrow (booyakasha).

2) Other than golf I'll spend most of my weekend watching college basketball, the WBC, and playing NBA Live '09 (jakeharv88 on xbox live if you think you have what it takes).

3) I have dodgeball playoffs on Monday, so other than golf that's what I'm zoned in on right now.

4) When I was looking for a picture of puppy punting (apparently its not that common) I came across this little gem.

And with that I think I'll wrap this one up. Until next time. Punt away.
